Ezi Blinds in Morton, Carlisle kicks off with successful first month
A family blinds business described the first month in their new store as “amazing” after previously operating the family home.
Ezi Blinds was taken over by Graham Elliot 14 years ago after he decided to quit his job in “high pressure” sales at another blind company.
A day after giving his notice, Graham bought the business that had already been running for two years and began running it with his family from his own home.
The business skyrocketed during the Covid-19 pandemic as more people sought to deal with renovations to their homes, and the family quickly found a new store on Stonegarth in Morton, Carlisle.
“When you have 20 roller shutters stacked on your kitchen table and you try to have your tea, it affects your life at home,” Graham said.
“I didn’t realize how big my garage was until I moved everything.
“I should have done it 10 years ago.
“I just wanted to work from home and do everything myself, but I think I was a victim of my own success.
“There was just too much stock in my house.
“I never strayed from work and had it in mind 24/7.
“Having the store took a huge weight off my shoulders.”
Graham said the first month in the store had “blown” the family, with existing customers returning and other businesses in the area wishing them well.
He added, “We have had this constant flow of people coming into the store and the phone has never stopped.
“There has been a constant flow of people and my agenda is full now until next month.
Being able to open the new store in the area where he grew up was the icing on the cake for Graham.
He said, “It means everything.
“I lived in this neighborhood, bought the store here, and I think people like it.
“I have a lot of friends and family here. I walk out of the store and there is always someone I know.”
