IKEA launches a stylish new addition to its range of smart blinds

IKEA has added two new HomeKit-enabled smart blinds to its existing blind range, which launched in 2019.
The Swedish brand has quietly expanded its range of smart blinds with the addition of PRAKTLYSING and TREDANSEN. Making it easier than ever to create a fully automated home.
At this time, TREDANSEN blinds are the only new launches available in the US – and none of the blinds are currently available in the UK.
IKEA TREDANSEN blinds
TREDANSEN cordless blinds come in a minimalist white color and act as blackout blinds, minimizing light in your home.
Blinds also work to insulate against cooler temperatures and protect your home from warmer temperatures, making them a great option if you need kitchen blind ideas.
In terms of functionality, they go up and down with a click, and you can also stop them at any time, if you don’t want the blinds fully open or fully closed.

If you fancy adding them to your home, they’ll come with IKEA’s TRÅDFRI Gateway, their home assistant product that lets you use their range of smart products around your home or apartment.
If you want to control the blinds with your Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit or Google Nest. You will need to set up the IKEA Home smart app on your respective device.
TREDANSEN smart blinds are available in a wide variety of sizes to fit all window sizes, from 58.5x195cm to 122x195cm.

The PRAKTLYSING blinds (above) are not yet available in the US and UK, however, we hope they will arrive here soon. The high-end design of roller blinds would not look out of place in a chic apartment or a sleek modern home.
They can be bought across Europe, apart from the UK, and sit in the middle of IKEA’s smart blind range price-wise, starting at €125.
The growing popularity of smart blinds
Motorized blinds have become much more widely used over the past decade, as have many smart products, allowing people to create a home that makes their lives easier. That fantasy of an alarm going off, the blinds opening and the coffee machine kicking in is now a reality.
Their appeal lies mainly in their combined style and functionality. Many motorized blinds now look just as good as their non-motorized counterparts, and companies are constantly expanding their range to appeal to all home decor preferences.
The fact that they can be rolled up or rolled down from anywhere inside or outside the house is a huge plus, as it means you can easily adjust them for day and night, or for more security when you are not at home.
They also work particularly well in homes with pets or babies, where the absence of cables (unlike regular blinds) is considered much safer.
