Jonathan Jaffe Wins $25,500 Lucky Hearts Poker Open 2022 High Roller Event

Jonathan Jaffe beat a field of 93 entries in the massive 2022 Lucky Hearts Open Poker $25,500 high roller no-limit hold’em event, earning his second win in this event after winning in 2020. Somehow Jaffe went back to back, as this event was not included in the program of the 2021 edition OHHL.
This time around, Jaffe earned $574,085 as champion, the 34-year-old professional poker player’s second-highest career payday behind only his second-place finish in 2008. World Poker Tour World Poker Finals main event for $670,635. The 2014 WPT Montreal The Main Event champion now has just under $5.5 million in live tournament winnings under his belt.
“I definitely ran the best I can remember in a high-roller,” Jaffe told reporters at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Blog after picking up the win. “It’s a bit of a peculiar feeling, when you keep winning all-ins from behind and your chips are multiplying, but you don’t feel like you’ve done anything particularly well.”
Along with the title and money, Jaffe also got plenty of ranking points for the win. He brought home 756 card player Player of the Year points, enough to move him up to 11th in 2022 POY race. He also scored 344 Visit PokerGO points, good for fourth place in this ranking.
Jaffe entered the final table as the chip leader with 90 big blinds, with Daniel Colpoys in second and bracelet winner Joseph Cheong in third.
2016 WSOP Jerry Wong, eighth in the main event, was the first player to be eliminated at the final table, with third pair and a live straight draw failing to top Tim Capretta’s top pair and flush draw. . Wong earned $66,615 as ninth place finisher.
A preflop run spelled the death knell for Vikenty Shegal (8th – $68,915), with his pocket nines unable to outrun Colpoys’ AK. Sameer Batra was the next to fall. His middle pair was beaten by Cheong’s top pair, and when no help came on the river, Batra hit the rail in seventh place ($80,400).
According to live event updates, Caleb Piderit has earned his spot in this high roller event via a $2,650 satellite. He managed to turn his seat in that event into a career-best cash of $98,775, his run ending when his A-5 suit was unable to defeat Capretta’s pair of nines. Piderit’s previous top cash was $7,520.
Capretta got another elimination when his AQ held against the K-7 fit of Wynn Winter Classic 2021 main event winner Eli Berg. The flop gave Berg a flush draw, but he was unable to improve the winner on the river and settled for a $130,935 payday as the fifth-place finisher.
Colpoys got the last of his stack with a three-bet squeeze holding KJ. Cheong had called Capretta’s initial raise with AQ, and wasted no time deciding to call after the opener got wide. Both players flopped pair, but Cheong’s aces were the best in the end. Colpoys earned $202,145 as fourth place, the biggest payday of his career.

and Jaffe’s jacks were enough to secure the pot. Capretta received $291,730 for third place.
With that, Jaffe took an approximately 5-4 head-to-head lead with Cheong. The two agreed to strike a deal to wrap up the tournament, with Jaffe winning $574,085 and the title of chipleader, while Cheong took home $540,000 as runner-up.
It was Cheong’s third POY-finish qualified in the final table of the year. With 1,094 total points and over $610,000 YTD POY gains, he now occupies second place in the general classification.
