Volunteers from the Central Mountains Christmas Lunch Fund have organized to hold a free community tea and lunch on Christmas Day at Kihilla House, Queens Road, Lawson.
Macquarie MP Susan Templeman raved about the lunch. She said: “This wonderful event is run by volunteers, especially for people facing financial hardship or feeling socially isolated.
“It has been held in Blaxland and Lawson for the past four years, and this year event coordinator Chris Kelly estimates that over 100 people will attend.
“It’s an opportunity for people to enjoy good food and company at no cost.
“After such a difficult year for so many people, it’s really encouraging to see the community coming together to support each other in this way.”
Central Village Church is helping organize the event. Senior Minister Reverend Tom Melbourne said: “As one of the ministers of the local church and as president of Kihilla, I love that this Christmas lunch can be held again.
“It’s such a wonderful thing to know that it will bring happiness and fellowship to a large group of people.”
Participants should arrive at 10.30am on Christmas Day for morning tea, followed by lunch.
The organizers are looking for cash, food or gift donations for the event. Anyone interested in donating can contact Chris Kelly at [email protected]
