The mystery of a woman found on a rock at sea who speaks perfect English but does not remember her name has been solved, friends say.
The sun revealed how the middle-aged lady was covered in scratches when fishermen spotted her and called rescuers in Krk, Croatia.
The cops have launched an international appeal to help identify the woman – whom they have dubbed “professor” because of her language skills. Now friends in Los Angeles recognized her as Daniela Adamcova, a celebrity jeweler who worked in Hollywood.
Her jewelry has appeared in movies and TV series Friends, and a series of stars are said to be fans of his designs, including Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross and Brigitte Bardot.
Daniela, 56, is said to be from Slovakia and has lived in the United States and Ireland.
It’s unclear what she was doing in Croatia – not to mention how she managed to scale razor-sharp rocks to the inaccessible island where she was rescued last week. Authorities said the 163cm blonde had survived several nights alone with bears lurking nearby.
A team of 14 rescuers used 4x4s, then drove three kilometers to reach it on the isolated outcrop. She had no passport or phone and was unable to say who she was or how she got there. And she was so weak that she could barely take a sip of water.
According to sources, his accent fluctuates between “professional English” and Eastern Europe, making it almost impossible to establish his nationality.
Police tried to use AI technology in the hope that a computer could recognize it from international databases or social media.
In the end, it was the media coverage that apparently solved the mystery.
Her friend Kelecic Miriam, a Slovak woman living in Zagreb, Croatia, recognized her and posted a photo of her holding necklaces on Facebook.
She contacted the Croatian police, who had also been informed of her identity by Slovak journalists.
Meanwhile, other friends in California also recognized her when the police called.
Nina Smidt said The daily beast the mystery woman was Daniela, known as Dana, who worked as an artisan in a company where she was a director in 2015.
She had been placed there by a charity that helps the homeless, she said.
Company owner Tyler Madsen allowed Dana to live there rent-free so she could save money before moving to Ireland in 2015.
“I immediately recognized the woman in the photo,” Nina said last night.
“The second I saw her picture, I sent it to Tyler to confirm it was her, which he confirmed.”
Tyler added, “One hundred percent – there’s no question in my mind that it’s her.”
Dana had also lived in the United States decades earlier and led a much more glamorous lifestyle before apparently having a hard time.
In 2008, a Slovak newspaper wrote a laudatory profile about her titled “Brigitte Bardot wears my jewelry”.
She said she left communist Czechoslovakia in 1984, at the age of 19, to attend fashion school in the United States.
She left alone, because no member of her family wanted to accompany her.
She then married a Hollywood producer, which is how she started making jewelry for the film and television industry.
Her designs have been brought to the screen by the cast of Friends and have also featured in other TV shows and plays, according to reports.
Supremes diva Diana Ross is said to admire her work and has bought a few pieces.
