Name of deceased Linn County inmate released, autopsy scheduled for Monday

UPDATE: The inmate has been identified as Marshall Mosby, 39, of Dubuque. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday at the DCI laboratory in Ankeny.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) – An inmate at the Linn County Correctional Center died Friday evening after experiencing chest pain.
A Linn County Correctional Center deputy sheriff was alerted by inmates that another inmate needed immediate medical attention just before 9 p.m. Friday. After a deputy sheriff paramedic responded, the inmate told them he was not feeling well and had chest pain, according to a press release. The inmate quickly became numb.
The Linn County Sheriff said staff have started taking life-saving measures, including CPR and a defibrillator, as well as advanced medical support from other paramedics. The Mercy Medical Center pronounced the inmate dead at 9:22 p.m.
According to the press release, prison staff last checked the inmate at 8:35 p.m. The detainee’s body was transported to the Criminal Investigation Division laboratory in Ankeny, and the death was reported to the state prison inspector. The incident is still under investigation.
The detainee had been in detention since January 2021.
