NEW MIAMI LIGHTHOUSE PODCAST FOCUS ON PROBLEMS AND OPPORTUNITIES FACED BY THE BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED

June 27, 2022 – Miami’s flagship for the blind and visually impaired has launched a new podcast series that addresses medical, technological, legal, social and lifestyle issues affecting people with vision issues and their families. Vision Insights released its first episodes, which can be heard on all major podcast outlets, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Audible, and Amazon Music, as well as on the Miami Lighthouse website at MiamiLighthouse.org (https:// www.miamilighthouse.org/Podcast.asp).
Each episode of Vision Insights examines a topic of interest or concern to the visually impaired, including the latest practical developments in treatment, education technology, internet accessibility and the law. Hosted by Miami Lighthouse Senior Vice President Cameron Sisser, each podcast features interviews with knowledgeable guests, experts in their field, and inspiring blind directors who excel in the arts, sports, business, and more. .
“The purpose of presenting Vision Insights is to communicate the many opportunities for the blind and visually impaired to gain greater independence and enjoy a better quality of life,” said Virginia Jacko, President and CEO of Miami Lighthouse. “We live in a very exciting time where advances in medicine and technology are breaking down the barriers that once separated the blind from the rest of society. This podcast deals with these topics.
Ms. Jacko, who is blind, explained that podcasts are perfect media for communicating with the visually impaired as they are audio-based and easily accessible worldwide. Vision Insights was designed to empower and inform individuals and families struggling with sight loss about opportunities to maximize their abilities and express their individualism.
