Patna-New Delhi Tejas Express to replace Rajdhani from September 1 | Patna News
PATNA: The country’s first fully air-conditioned semi-rapid train, Tejas Express (02309/02310), is expected to run between the Rajendra Nagar terminal in Patna and New Delhi from September 1, replacing the Rajdhani Express LHB coaches. It will be the first Tejas Express of the East Central Railway (ECR) to run on the Rajdhani Express track.
According to ECR Public Relations Director (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar, the Tejas Express travels at a top speed of 160 km / h. âThe speed limit for express trains has been increased from 110 km / h to 130 km / h on the main line Patna-Buxar-Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction. Thus, Tejas Express is able to operate at a maximum speed of 130 km / h between Patna Junction and New Delhi, slightly reducing the journey hours by at least half an hour, âhe said.
Tejas coaches were designed and manufactured locally at the Kapurthala Rail Coach Factory in Punjab. Two sets of the most sophisticated and luxurious coaches, numbering 52, have already reached Patna.
âThe particularity of Tejas Express coaches is that the train will not move until the automatic coach doors are completely closed. Facilities such as Wi-Fi, CCTV cameras, trash can, tea and coffee dispenser, LCD screens displaying information about each station are available in Tejas coaches, âsaid CPRO.
âExperienced chefs will be on the bandwagon to serve delicious meals to passengers. Touchless water taps, soap dispensers, bio-vacuum toilets, hand dryers and childcare seats in the toilets have been provided in Tejas coaches. In addition, Tejas coaches are equipped with a fire detection and extinguishing system while the side lower berth is simple. The bunks have been fitted with improved cushions and colorful roller shutters at each window, âhe said.
Tejas coaches have a retro-reflective strip in the aisle area. In addition, the railways have, for the first time, provided much improved practical steps for climbing onto the upper bunks.
Danapur’s Division Senior Commercial Manager (DCM) Adhar Raj said the rakes are ready to carry passengers with all the comforts of the Rajendra Nagar terminal in New Delhi from September 1. âThe fare for passengers traveling by Tejas Express is the same as that of the Rajdhani Express. Tickets online can be booked on the IRCTC website, âhe said.
According to sources, the total number of berths in a single rake of the Tejas Express comprising 26 coaches is 758, including the first AC, the second AC and the third AC.
