A Victoria Police officer will face trial after allegedly letting an unlicensed person carry a long-barreled firearm. Police said they charged the 40-year-old senior state eastern region officer after an internal investigation. His eight counts included three counts of failing to store firearms properly, three counts of allowing an unlicensed person to carry a long arm, failing to inform the police for his change of address and for not having stored the ammunition in the correct manner. Victoria Police allege the offense happened while the officer was off duty on May 2 last year. The senior constable was later summoned to appear in a magistrates’ court. Australian Associated Press
