With thriving wildlife at Navarre Beach, people are expected to protect sea turtles when visiting during nesting season. That is, they must turn off their lights in all rooms facing the beach if they visit Navarre beach between May and October.

This is because sea turtle hatchlings will stray when they emerge from their nests if exposed to light. Hence the name light pollution. After sunset, people should close their blinds and curtains to block light from reaching the sea turtles.
