Tulsa’s Gathering Place sues Shawnee cafe for its name
TULSA, Oklahoma. – Tulsa gathering place slams a Green Country cafe with a lawsuit this month.
The costume states that “The Gathering Place Coffee Company in Shawnee takes advantage of the park’s fame for its own benefit, using the same name.” “
Lawyers representing the Gathering Place filed the complaint on Friday. They claim that The Gathering Place Coffee Company offers services similar to event spaces and park-like cafes.
The park says this has created confusion among park patrons. It is not known when the park was notified. However, park officials said they have received complaints from park visitors about the confusion.
Meanwhile, the Gathering Place Coffee Company says it was never their intention. The company posted a statement on Facebook saying it fully intends to resolve the issue.
And that, “If no simple resolution can be found, we have confidence in our legal team and our case. It’s hard to think that anyone would actually be mistaken for a world-famous outdoor play space and a small local cafe located an hour and a half apart.
The park not only asks the cafe to change its name, but it also asks for money in exchange for the damage. The amount will be decided at a trial if it is about that. So far, the cafe has 21 days to respond.
